What Bird Doesn’T Fly?

Penguins are classified as birds although they are unable to fly. However, they are exceptional swimmers, which is why they spend much of their time in the ocean. Only three of the 18 different species of penguins are endemic to Antarctica; the other species can be found in a wide variety of other locations in the Southern Hemisphere.

Birds that have lost their capacity to fly due to the process of evolution are called flightless birds. There are more than 60 species still alive today, some of which are well-known, such as the ratites (ostriches, emus, cassowaries, rheas, and kiwis) and the penguins. The Inaccessible Island rail is the world’s smallest bird that does not have wings (length 12.5 cm, weight 34.7 g).
